Behind thinly veiled jealousy, I also wish I could play Gran Turismo in real-life but I really have to ask:

What is it going to be like insuring a smoking demon like that?

I hate all Aussie made cars whether they have a US chev engine or a local produced one, I hate to see them everywhere I go. I hate to count them at the lights, sometimes almost up to 100 at a stop point and I hate them for making the locals think they're invincible. While they have so much grunt and rarely use more than 5% at any given time or day. Damn, they can all hate me but it won't make me like em any much more.

Aus, did you live in Australia when these beasts were around? My brother owned an XA GT and a XU1.

They were the epitome of family cars on steroids and I consider them to be the most dangerous cars I have ever driven. They were seriously over the top with basic suspensions and ridiculously powerful, raw uncivilised motors. Boy, am I glad those days are gone - hopefully never to return.

What do you mean? They still are!

I was very young when these cars were new, but I remember going to Amaroo with my uncle in his Falcon GT.

You're right that these cars were advanced in power and little all else. In the hands of the inexperienced they were certainly dangerous, but you could easily say the same of the S2000 and WRX. Just ask an insurance company.

BUt at least the primary goal of these cars was performance. I can't say the same for much of the Commodores and Falcons since. Boring bloody cars.

I guess that's why I'm excited by the new coupe.

Oh, and I once drove a 360 cubic inch Chrysler Charger through a brick wall. Yes, they were dangerous cars.

I'll like to have a nice Aussie woman but I can't find one anywhere! I have nice Aussie friends and they are respectable people with a proper profession. But I find alot of tall poppy syndrome Aussies everywhere on the streets on weekend nights as well! And I hate them for saying that my car sux over their commodores! Damn, and those work for the dole type of people ... They scare the living sh*t outta me instantly.

Do the current gen WRX have the same spec world wide?

the S4 is not really popular per se here, atleast in Houston, but they are not that rare. Infact I see more S4 ina given time frame than I do S2000.

M5 is a fairly dreamy car.... I wonder if there will come a day when Japanese automakers will actually make TRUE M5 challanging type cars. I think Toyota is on the right track with the GS sedans EXCEPT the auto and the soft ride...... oh well. You just have to hope they learn.

No. The Japanese get the best of everything - more power, 6 speed etc. North America gets more power than we do, but we seem to get better wheels and tyres. The suspension tune is a bit of a grey area. I'm starting to think yours is softer.
