Ahh the Asus P4P800... I remember when I tried doing an install when my tech was away on vacation... the MB started smoking for some reason. It's okay, RMA that shit.

Funny - I got my Intel 2.6Ghz HT 800Mhz CPU, ASUS P4C800-E Motherboard, and 1GB Hyper X DDR433 Dual Channel RAM, and 160GB Western Digital 8Meg cache serial ata drive from googlegear yesterday haha. Still using my 128MB GForce 4600Ti card though, in a coolermaster aluminum case with Yamaha 44x CDRW and pioneer A-06 DVD +/- R/RW. Good luck on the overclock... might want to consider a better heatsink/fan though. I only plan to OC mine from 2.6-2.8 hehe, and PAT is already enabled on my 875 chipset. Good thing you got your 865 chipset now, cuz you won't be able to enable PAT on it in the next rev.

Yeah for those who do not know Intel put the STOP on PAT enabled for the 865PE chipset. It turns out that with PAT on a 865PE the board is only a second slower on tasks compare to the 875P.

More technical info on PAT:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/2...h_the_intel_865

Tomshardware Says:
"During our tests we were able to raise the core frequency from 2.8 GHz to 3.22 GHz (FSB speed of 230 MHz) at our first attempt and without any additional cooling."

I'll try it and see want the core temp is and system stability.

overclocking ability also seems to be somewhat related to where the parts were assembled. I've had better luck with asian-assembled parts as opposed to costa rican. Not implying that it's the assembly quality that is the cause. I think the parts get split by overall test yields and higher proportion of the top-end units get sent to asia for assembly. I could be wrong though - I don't work in that division hehe.
