You have to understand, a lot of blacks STILL have a feeling of inferiority in this country. Sure there's a black president, but that feeling still lingers in many. I don't feel like writing my response on another thread, so here it is. *Disclaimer it may be a tad off topic for this thread, but kinda similar
People want to act like racism is dead. Lets not forget that the civil rights movement/ Jim Crow era happened in our parents lifetime. Its not something that's gone and forgotten, no it is VERY recent in terms of history. Now in my opinion no one from another race has the right to tell another to "let it go" Now Greg here's my disclaimer I personally have "only" experienced racism a very small handful of times, so I myself don't go around with a chip on my shoulder feeling oppressed. I personally have been given every opportunity a person can ask for to make it in this world. However in the 21st century when you see segregated cemeteries in the south, and black men "accidentally" being shot 40 times and the false cries of "the black man did it"* then yes I can see how some blacks still feel like victims. Now even though I myself don't go through the same struggle of a lot of my people, I do realize that there is a struggle.
So IMO all these "black only" services, So what
if a group of people see themselves as the doormat of this country, then why not let em have something to call their/our own.
Again - I personally don't feel oppressed or that I've been prejudiced against but I can identify with those who do

racism will never go away. segregation is gone. so yes, you will have to "get over it"
but I'm a white guy in a city of 1.7 million with at least a 55% hispanic population, so what would I know about racism or having racist comments being thrown at me?
guess what? we all deal with it.
and guess what else? its even worse outside the US.
