Sweet sappy love story:

I was an unhappy girl... I had a lot of guys constantly hitting on me because of my fixed up del Sol. They were very egotistical and felt that being a jerk was the way to keep me. I found this out after a couple of dates with some of them. They were more attracted to the car and the "hot girl" (I think they needed glasses) than the personality.

My boyfriend was an unhappy guy. He has a relatively nice looking car, is very good looking, and he had no problem getting hot girls. But he was sick of them because they were flaky, materialistic and/or b*tchy. A lot of girls used him to get back at their ex-boyfriends or just to have a cute guy with a nice car on their arm.

Then we met each other in a college class and now we couldn't be happier.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... you don't need the car to get the girl, and some of you know it. But some other people don't understand it and that's why you see so many posts like "I drive a S2000 instead of an Evo because I can get mad pu$$y with my S!!"

Hey Minako,
Nice avatar, is that from the Japanese "La la la... do you drive a Honda?" commercial?

I don't know, I don't get chicks because of my car. I get chicks because I'm really good looking and tall.

Anyone who knows anything knows it's mostly about attitude. You can't be a Brad hero-type, nor can you have too much of an attitude. A fine balance of nice guy / jerk is what is needed. I'm the perfect example! Anyone who says "nice guys finish last" is just making up excuses for their lack of personality. Brad looks like the type of guy who can't figure out what he's doing wrong. If I was him, I would flirt lightly with the girl, and be nice to her boyfriend. It's easy to get girls with boyfriends to cheat, you just need to be their flirty friend who seems to not be too interested. Be a little hard to get, but make sure they have fun with you. Sooner or later they will come on to you, then you strike back at them with your penis phalanx!

Jason...this post made me laugh very hard!!

But I don't think nice boys finish last, and I'm glad I got one. Cute, sexy and nice! Never a jerk... never EVER a jerk. We take care of each other and are always considerate to one another. Sure, if he was more of a jerk he would get lots of girls who would want to hang out with him, but that's not his style. He said from the start that he'd rather be a nice guy and wait for the right girl instead of be a jerk and get all the wrong girls.

PeaceLove&S2K - yes, that's where it's from! I thought that commerical was so cute and amusing I had to use that picture. It brings a smile to my face whenever I see it.

To get back on topic, I think that the comic strip creator just wanted to show his admiration for the S, so he took an opportunity to use it in his comic strip even though the driver is a jerk. Doesn't mean all S drivers are jerks, right? ^_^

How do you know that the driver in the comic strip is a jerk to begin with? You've seen him...twice or three times in the strip. Just cuz the loser guy calls him a jerk, doesn't mean that you automatically label the s2k driver a jerk. What happened to non-prejudice in society, you guys are basically pre-judging the character of the s2k driver. Get to know the guy before accusing him of being a jerk. I dunno why I am defending him, seems kinda lame to argue about this, but I just had an urge to defend the driver.

Go back and read the backstory. Basically the S2000 driver damaged his girlfriend's car in an accident, doesn't have insurance, refuses to pay to get her car fixed and then complains about having to drive her around.

I think that qualifies him as a "jerk" quite nicely...

I think it's hilarious that a thread revolving around the "Luann" comic strip has stretched to three pages!

I went on comics.com and looked at the author Greg Evans' biography. One of his sons is into cars and Greg says he tries to make them look authentic when he draws them (that S2000 needs some work, Greg...)

And to add to the "relationship" angle -- don't go overboard on being a sympathetic, good listener-type "nice guy." You'll draw neurotic women like flies to honey.
