I think that qualifies him as a "jerk" quite nicely...
You still don't know their situation. Maybe the guy has provided so much to the blonde chick, or maybe they have some sort of business arrangement. You still don't know. Not having insurance has nothing to do with being a jerk. When you complain about something, that doesn't automatically make you a jerk. I'm sure we're all guilty of complaining every now and then. You are still pre-judging.

i think there's a little too much speculation about a "Luann" comic character ...

Actually, the story has been going on and off for the past couple of months. I think that the comic strip creator is purposely trying to show his readers that Dirk is not that nice of a guy and that Toni still stays with him in spite of all the things he's done wrong to her (which is quite true in many real life situations).

In fact, in one comic, Toni admits that she's been dating Dirk for four years and isn't quite sure how long their future together would be. I think it's supposed to be a hint of her doubt for the relationship itself.

That being said... I have to agree with some other people on here. It's amazing that we've been discussing a Luann comic strip for over three pages.

Why does a guy HAVE to pickup a girl from school?

Ok, maybe if he crashed her car, and isn't picking her up from school, that is pushing it. That's something I wouldn't do, and I thought I have a pretty big jerk streak.

I'm 6'2' My torso must be longer then most I hang the arm on the door all the time when I'm driving. Actually I find it more comfortable then leaning over to rest my arm on the arm rest. I have the new formula red so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut!
