Your company have a Wellness Fair / Plan ?
I have been stuck (it is a good thing though) as the Wellness Committee coordinator at my company. We have a lot of blue collar workers who smoke too much, drink too much and eat too much.
How the hell do you convince these guys that they are going to die early if they don't stop? They just don't seem to care.
We are having our "Wellness Fair" in about a month, which they have the opportunity to get tested for cholesterol, blood pressure, etc..... so hopefully that opens their eyes.
Weight watchers and some Tobacco Cessastion coordinators will be here to hand out pamphlets and hopefully get some people singed up......
It is amazing that someone would smoke and eat and not be able to make it up one flight of steps without breathing heavily..... i guess they just want to die.?

I'm a kinesiology major right now in college, so I'll probably end up having a job similar to yours at one point. I honestly don't think you can convince anyone, even if you tell them they're going to die young. It's sort of something one determines on his own. I use to be pretty heavy, 35% bodyfat or so, and one day I just got tired of being fat and never looked back.

i am hoping when we get them tested (hopefully the fat ones sign up to get tested), that they start to see the light...... we have some guys who can barely walk they are so fat and they aren't that old (some in their 20's, some as old as 50's).......
hopefully when some of them can't blow out a candle because their lung (ahah) doesn't have the power any more....they will sign up for some classes.
Instead, more than likely all the healthy people will sign up for the tests, find out they are still healthy and all the unhealthy people will just hide somewhere and eat some Drakes Cakes (newman).
