The U.S. is in a sad state of affairs and I don't see things turning around until we endure the consequences of our actions.

(I didn't read the Kitco article, the statement is based on my observations.)

So after the amateur diatribe his only recommendation is to buy gold?

 

Yes, let's have the govt expropriate all the private wealth. Then we too can behave like a 3rd world country.
This guy needs to think his philosophy through a bit more thoroughly.

 

He didn't say "Let's have the government take all our wealth" but instead pointed to past examples of it, its effect, and a means of protecting yourself against it. He wasn't advocating it, he was warning that it's already happened, will continue to happen, and that there is very little you can do about it unless you switch to a gold standard (ie, you buy gold as a hedge against inflation or devaluation of the dollar).

Simplistic idea because when it's all said and done, even the gold standard isn't what it used to be.

 

So.....what does he want everyone to do about it?

 

Continue to ignore the fact that we already have a Politics and Current Events forum. . . I believe that's what we're supposed to do.
