Uhh, they're just silver. The stock machined wheels are closer to the chrome of the badges than these are.

I think it's just a matter of me taking a superior picture compared to his

I went through a lot of trouble to document different shadows and angles with my first findings.

But it is true, these are much closer to a bright silver finish than chrome...When the sun hits them, they pop. (which is clearly evident in my photo above)

...............Went to SuperCar sunday this morning. It's nice to see that my rear tires are just as wide as many turbo porsches, several ferrari's......but wider in the front than any porsche, ferrari or GTO there (how much more do they way??? ) Can you say grip!?

Yeah, I think the flat black ones might look shiny with that lighting! My shots are from an iPhone 3G on a heavily overcast day.

As promised, here's my setup and link to the pics (unable to post images inline since I'm not a member of the site / IMG button won't properly display an HTML-based image)...

17x10 72mm offset Nickel 6ULRs with 275/40/17 Toyo RA-1s. Half inch spacer up front, none in back. Outstanding service from Emilio / 949 on the wheels, TreadDepot.com for best price on the Toyos, John Long Automotive Specialist in Round Rock TX for mounting/balancing.

VERY VERY pleased with the whole decision. Great fitment, excellent product quality, good for 104F Texas summers where the autocrossing orgs haven't figured out how to run events such that you can work + run in either the 8:30-12 or 1-4PM run groups the way folks do on the Left Coast... and thus it's a whipping to change tires after a full day of working/running an 8+ hr event.

And on the finish, it's gorgeous. Wish my CCWs had it. Bottom line, it's what 90% of OEMs use to add dimensionality to their silver wheels, aka "hyper silver" by some paint shops. Not chrome, but a really tasteful color that adds a lot to the nicely-designed curves in this wheel.

stantaur- i was a big fan and follower of your CCW wheels and what it took to fit them. How come you switched to these 949's? Weren't you running wider tires successfully with the 18's??

Also, are you experiencing any rubbing on your front setup now? I know you've rolled and pulled the front fenders, but still, any feedback on the front fitment would be nice.

...At any rate, you're lookin goood (but maybe i'm a little biased since i have the nickles as well )

Looking good stantaur! I'm relieved to see that others nickel wheels look like mine and not the chrome look like the website. I thought I got a bum set, but it looks like they're all like that. I kind of like the look even though it's not what I was expecting.

One minor point, but your RA1s are on the wrong sides of the car if you're going to be driving in wet conditions. For dry it doesn't matter too much.

Thanks guys. Yes, I still have the CCWs for autocross (285/295 fitment). However, Texas is a bit behind the Left Coast when it comes to organizing autocross,* so I picked up the 17x10s with RA-1s to arrive & drive without changing tires. Here's a link to the video of the car from outside. They're fully treaded, so you can imagine the dogs howling in the area from tire squeal. Still, a lot more fun that sitting at home on a Sunday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuOzxU3TYHY

Link above was my 3rd run of 5 and not the fastest (got down to mid 45 on 5th run when the casting mold was starting to wear off the RA-1s.

No rub on my setup. 900 lb springs up front / 700 lb springs out back with Moton CS on full firm for compression & rebound, Comptech bar on next-to-softest setting and stock rear S2K bar. 72mm offset wheels all around, with 0.5" spacer up front (none in rear). RA-1s liked 36.5 PSI front, 33 PSI rear but they got warm (150+ F on pyrometer after each run and were getting greasy by the middle of these 45-sec runs on asphalt)

*SF Region & Portland regions figured out you can split an autocross into two half-day sessions, wherein all the classes are advised ahead of time whether their classification (and work/run group) is in either the morning or the afternoon.
So if you're in SSM for example, you find out your work/run is Sun AM, you show up at 7, first car out at 8:30, done by 12:30. (Alternatively if you're in afternoon group, you show at 12, first car out at 1, done by 4). Naturally you can stay the whole day either way, it's just that you get your runs & work done in either the morning or afternoon sessions.
Texas hasn't figured this out or have been afraid to try it. That's a double-whammy head-scratcher given that this time of year, it's hot & humid by 9 AM and pretty miserable to spend 8+ hrs in the heat. For some medical reasons I won't go into here, I either can't race in the summer or just do the arrive & drive for the fun of it knowing that fresh A6s are ~ 2 sec faster than 8/32 tread RA-1s. :-) Also thanks for the heads-up on the direction - I asked my installer to adhere to the arrows, but he went with the inner pattern & I didn't have time to research it.

Bottom line, the 17x10 6ULRs are fantastic. Great looks, just as light as if CCW would have done that size, strong reputation. And big props to Emilio and Tread Depot for getting the toys here on time.
