Got my Ballade 330mm rotor x Spoon Caliper installed with Stoptech ST40 brake pads. Pads are now snug perfectly inside the monoblock with no overhang. About to pair it with some TE37 SL 17x9.5 +45

Just saw a post about those rotors pop up with some disappointment. Are you running an Idleboost spec wheel?

I thought about that but I was concerned about the pads floating, you don’t get any pad vertical pad movement at all? I may have to give it a try
I mean street wise and spirited driving no noticeable performance with my very slight 1/8”overhang (I just shave the edge of pad surface so doesn’t squeak on the edge of rotor) but I am kinda ocd and having it flush be nice!

Depends on how much material you take off. It's better to grind away slowly rather than rushing to cut a huge chunk off. You can always remove some, but you can't add it back (unless you have a welder to tack weld). Mine is pretty solid, and I also added high temp brake grease on them as an added precaution. Brake pads are disposable, calipers are not. It's better to trim pads than to cut the calipers.

definitely, little by little for sure. I may look into how to keep the pad secure if trimming the ears. I wouldn’t want the pad walking, my full float rotors aren’t exactly cheap too LOL. $1k for pair , Yes I overspent on them haha so I don’t want to ruin them either. Getting it flush would be sweet though, I am very close at this point so I haven’t even looked into anymore. I just shave the edge of pad (only 2-3mm maybe) so it doesn’t rub the rotor as it wears down and squeak so I’m happy but I’m always down to get them down
I will look into that again
