From my understanding the Te37 OG
clear with no spacer but what rotor is being use also
Te37 og evasive spec is 17x9.5+41 don’t know if the 1mm makes huge differences which I believe it does and changes things

any help would help

I Ive had both OG and SL and can confirm that te37sl 17x9.5+40 DOES NOT CLEAR without spacers. 3mm should though.

OG TE37 (Evasive spec) 17x9.5+41 DOES clear however

thanks for the kind words. I think most are just fine with 3mm. Fairly common mod.

wow thank you very much for the reply would 4 or 5 mm on stock studs be ok?
also I seen a post saying the ballade 330mm big rotor rotor would help clear with no spacer you think that’s better than spacer ?
Still waiting on calipers just trying to do research before they arrive and it’s time to install wheels with calipers
if I should do extended stud or just stay stock studs with spacer or 330mm ballade rotors

Read from post #219 reading ballade.
Sorry I can't vouch for 5mm spacers or ballade products.

Has anyone installed or know anymore about the Project Mu 330mm 2 piece front rotor kit that can apparently be used with the Spoon monoblock caliper? I’m interested in getting some but want to see if it has the same issues as the Ballade kit.

Thanks,
Andy

I have Spoon monoblocks on my DC5 with M&M Honda 330mm floating 2 piece calipers. Basically yes , it doesn’t really matter which big rotor kit you’d have , the radius of the Spoon caliper is made for a near perfect fit for smaller rotors so the flatter radius of the bigger rotors forces to move the Spoon caliper away so it doesn’t bottom out on the edges of the caliper.

I know it’s painful to think about LOL and I thought long and hard before deciding to do so but you can carefully shave the notch to bring in the caliper closer but I’m not sure you could get rid of it totally because it’s quite a bit. (4mm or so).

I may take a closer look tomorrow , I just swapped pads today after work because my Spoon pads squeak and is annoying. I shaved down the edge of the pad so it doesn’t overhang and rub on the rotor edge but I can’t totally get rid of slow speed squeaks with the Sooon pads. I can say I just put on EBC Red Stuff today and it is quiet now

Thank you for the reply. I thought that would might be the case but secretly hoped that ProjectMu had somehow figured it out with a cunning bracket or something..

I don’t have an issue having the calipers shaved or trimmed, but I don’t think I’d like to attempt it myself.
Arrows Racing in Japan actually offer it as a service but they’re unfortunately for me all the way in Japan so I’ll try to find an engineering company nearer to home to see if they could replicate the task from Arrows website: https://www-arrows--japan-com.transl..._x_tr_sch=http

wow their Spoon brackets are the nicest I’ve seen!

I do notice they list their rotors as 323mm a few mm less than the common 330mm which may help the cause a bit.

if you’ve bore matched an intake manifold or are handy with a dremel you can absolutely do it yourself. I’ll send you pictures of mine. I shaved approx 3mm before I held off , I figure I could always shave more but I can’t put back so I left it at that on the first round. If you’re careful , take your time you can absolutely do it yourself , just have to muster the courage to take a dremel to your $1500-1700 calipers lol.

it was a few months ago so I don’t quite remember how much material I can do within reason. The very edge was the closest and fairly easy to shave but I do remember it started to get to the point that I needed to start shaving the upper wall and that’s where it gets more tricky.

I’m gonna take another look to see if it’s worth shaving more to get it the caliper down more to rid more of the overhang. To try and rid of all of it though in certain that I would have to shave to the “indention” part of the caliper which aesthetically I was initially deciding not to go that far. The overhang isn’t really much of an issue to be honest. I’m just really anal that way which is why I’m giving it one more look and ultimately decide if I’m leaving it. The pad was easy to taper down nicely with a grinder which I will do if I decide to leave the caliper as it is.

but as you can see in the pic, I did shave a few millimeters and at least I feel it looks fine. I masked off and touched up the shaved portion with blue caliper paint and it actually matched pretty nicely! it’s basically underneath as well and the parts you’re working on isn’t really exposed to visually see in normal conditions so it’s all mental in this case. As much as I prize my Spoon calipers I was confident I won’t mess them up. In my case I have a 1/8” spacer that I had to add for clearance so if I can gain that , I can remove it and what’s left of my overhang will be very small.

either way I am happy with it , it was very bad at first. It was initial I about 1/4” of overhang.

now that I figured out that the overhang wasn’t the cause of my squeak/squealing. I’m not as concerned but since I am trying a fresh new set of pads , any changes I’m gonna do I want to do now.

but yep no brackets etc will cure the Spoon overhang mainly because the Spoon was designed precisely around the DC5/S2K rotor sizes to the T with not much leeway so they can’t “hug” the bigger rotors as close. Making clearance via modifying calipers is the only way to try and get 100% or near pad contact.
