I am thoroughly impressed with Dave's 335i. Fit and finish is what I expected from BMW and the car looked so good in that color combo! Feels substantial and def par above Lexus IS, Infiniti G35 or any other sporty coupe/sedans in its class. Nice ride Dave!
Well, after 700 miles, here are my initial impressions.
The 335 is bigger than I thought. It is longer than my X3!
The iDrive is cool and easy to use if you are a techi person. I can see how people get frustrated with it. If you don't read the manual, you will be lost.
HD radio is big
The power of this thing is just incredible.
Very quiet, you can't hear the turbos. But with the windows down, the exhaust does have a nice growl.
Did I say this thing fricking flies? 140 feels like 70.
Seats are awsome and the mood lighting at night is really cool.
Good fuel economy. I got almost 28mpg on the way home. Around town since I am on boost alot I have been getting 11mpg. I am going to have to control my right foot better or not let Andy drive it again
Brakes are very good also and the brake assist/hill holder is cool to use.
I am more than impressed by the 335 but there are a few thing I don't like such as the turbos are silent and it makes brake dust with a passion.
The steering could be a tad quicker in town, but once 20mph its perfect and very communicative.
Advantages of the S over the 335:
Easier to park in my garage
quicker transient response, but the but-o-meter and the track experience last week would say that ultimate grip is at least equal.
Now that I have a coupe I miss the open air of the S. Go figure since that when I put the hardtop on the S, I did not miss not having a convertible.
Did I say the 335 car was long!
The S is a more involving car to drive, but 335 is just as good, it just does things differently. Its hard to explain until you drive it.
The shifter in the S is still the best. The 335 is very good, but feels very Germanic with longer throws, but you can still shift it fast enough 1st to 2nd to get rubber.
Both the S and the 335i get looks from people at Easton and thats always feels right.
