Default Has anyone gone from AP1 to AP2?

I really need to drive an ap2....

I'm curious if anyone went from owning an ap1 to ap2 or vice versa. I noticed alot of you guys have ap2's (probably for good reason). I do have one friend that had both and he always told me the ap2 was easily the superior car...

Stock vs stock, I think the ap2 looks much better than the ap1. The bumper's, headlights and taillights, wheels, etc etc

The ap2 in stock form seems like its great, whereas I couldn't own a stock ap1 (think its too plain without a front lip and the 16" wheels). Not to mention the ap2 at stock ride height looks nice and if I can avoid having a lowered S - that'd be nice. I also wish I had the power curve of more torque down low - does it really drive significantly different around town? Finally i don't care to rev to 9000, 8000 is fun enough

Obviously it sounds like I wish I had an ap2 (i do) - Just wondering if anyone here had first hand advice to give me.

Mocky has had all the variants - AP1, AP2 & CR. I'm sure he can chime in.

Based on your post, it sounds like you've already made up your mind. I would look to see if you can find an '06+ and up if possible and call it a day.

Also, in terms of driving different because of the motor change... well, honestly, I didn't notice that much difference.. my $.02.

Good luck!

When I was researching and shopping for mine a few months ago, I came to the conclusion that 06 was my sweet spot for what I could afford along with what I felt had fewer liabilities. Not dissing older versions of this great car, but the 06 has a few little things like the temp guage in the cluster.

8000 miles later I'm still grinning ear to ear.

in terms of engine performance, i didn't notice much of a difference. actually, the biggest "engine related" difference is that the AP1 tach scales 0-6000 RPM from 9 to 12 o'clock, and 6000-9000 RPM from 12 to 3 o'clock. in the AP2 gauge cluster, the tach is scaled pretty evenly. the AP1 tach does give the illusion that the RPMs climb much much faster in VTEC!

i like everything else about the AP2, except i wish it had the 9k redline (or lower VTEC engagement @ ~ 5k RPM). the lower redline, combined with effectively shorter 1-4 gears, is the main reason why i'd prefer the AP1 drivetrain.

My 03 Ap1 was more raw and unforgiving in certain situations. My 08 Ap2 is a lot more forgiving in regards with extreme maneuvering.

There was more confidence for instance with high speed sweeping turns on the Cherohola skyway and the Foothills parkway both in Tennesse

Is this maybe do to more experience in the car or different tire compounds .....can't really say

^ Steve said it well ...

...I went from an 02 AP1 to an 06 AP2 and enjoyed the change. I miss my AP2 much more than my AP1
