Default I Hate Winter...

I've always hated winter. But now I have yet another reason...my Spa is covered and sitting idle!! . I wander out to the garage, peek under the cover, then begin swearing...DAMN!! I have begun research on "winterizing the car" and will post my results if anyone cares to see them. It sounds like there's a bit to do to the car to adequately prepare it for sitting idle.

Winter is the one time of the year I'd rather be driving my Civic. It can keep singing VTEC right on through the new year!

Mine doesn't see the snow (except for when I pop open the garage door to shovel the driveway). However, I have been around long enough to know that there are plenty of good dry days when I can take 'er out to exercise her. Plus, I recall having a few days when I could drive with the top down. That's kinda fun in December, January and February.

Dario,

So you don't do any "winter prep"?? My fear, even on the dry days, is that there is salt "dust" still on the raods. When you drive it gets kicked up and attaches itself to the underbody where it will not be cleaned off. Ever

It may not help much, but I did get the underside undercoated. Also, I spray the underside down with a lot of water to dissolve and drain the salt as much as possible. I realize I'm risking it, but it is so much more fun driving it year round. We'll see how it holds up years from now.

How do you get it off the ground to rinse it? Also, I wonder how much is actually removed by rinsing? I'm sure you've washed your cars in the winter that were coated with salt. You can sit there for hours rinsing the door panels, etc. but the salt is still there until it is removed by hand washing. I'd be afraid.

It's not like I'm not concerned; plus, I'm not out there everyday. I just pick the days I want to drive it and enjoy it. You think the Spa yellow pearl looks good in the summer sun? It really looks good when you have a clear sky and there is snow reflecting the sun off the body. Plus, it seems to run better when it breathes that cold air.

Well, who knows? It's only been in the garage 5 days and I'm already chomping at the bit to take it out. I can't imagine going months at a time. Damn, I hate living in Cleveland.
