I Hate Winter...
It's all what you make of it. I love the changing of the seasons. I'm not too fond of the hot humid days of summer and welcome the cool refreshing air of winter.
I feel I'm making payments on the car and it's insured, so, might as well get my moneys worth out of it year round.

Drive the car...The only thing you are preventing by not driving it with salt on the road is having fun. What is the difference between a 2000 S with 5,000 miles never been in rain or salt and a 2000 S with 5,000 all year miles on it? The last cars owner had more fun it surely is not price difference. Drive it like its meant to be driven.

OK, my list is covered in the first link above (86396) thanks JonasM.
OhioRacer, I feel your pain, believe me!
The only thing I can say is it will pass, you need to plan on some special winter projects where you take the car apart enough so you could not drive it for a few weeks anyway, this sort of helps. There is always the forum to get you through some of the snow. But for me I always go back to these two things. #1- I keep my mileage down because in just 18 weeks I already have 11,000 miles on my S. #2- The thrill of the "new" car each spring is amazing, it really is like buying a new car every year. I know this may not help, but I tried...

I sure wish I could say that. We have many local salt mines here and the amount they go through is unbelievable. The stuff just sits on the road and shoulders as white piles of dust.

Lake effect can be so brutal!
But for me that's OK, I actually enjoy the winter. I love the challenge of getting from point A to point B, and my 4x4 V6 KingCab is just great in the snow!
I really do sympathize wit those who live in an area where there seems to be no end of the salting, and here in Rochester it is just crazy. My parents only live 50 miles south and the difference is beyond words. Down there the towns use lots of sand and a little salt.
And there is nothing that seems to destroy a well kept car faster than lots of exposure to salt!

I wish I could find a way to enjoy winter. But I can't. It's cold, damp, dreary, the sun never shines, the traffic is awful, I CAN'T DRIVE MY S, etc. I've already got one leg in South Carolina
