Nelson Ledges Fun Day
Would anyone be intersted in meeting up for a track day at Nelson Ledges? There is a fun day coming up on July 1st. It's $120 for the day and you get to run as many sessions as you want. You'll need a helmet BTW.
I haven't ran here and would like someone who is familiar with the track to drive with.
Here's the track info and a layout of the track.

Nelson is a fast track but not novice friendly. I used to run out there monthly many years ago. Most of the corners have very little run off. The pavement used to be very bad, but I have heard that some of it has been repaved.

A lot of the track has been repaved, BUT it is not smooth or flat. I talked to a few poeple who drove it in May and they said is so bad that balancing the car was very tough even on the straights.
Plus the road into Nelson is a disaster.

Latesleeper and I visited the track last week. It seems like some sections have been repaved, but there are still numerous patches and fillings to cover the uneven surfaces.
These imperfections, along with the overall fast pace of the track, certainly add some level of danger to an inexperienced driver. However, I believe these "Fun Day" events provide a good opportunity for one to explore his/her own limitations (and not the track's). if driven sensibly, track times can be both educational and entertaining. For me, learning the proper way of driving is far more rewaring than performing heroic maneuvers.

I've never been, but I heard from a guy that did the Audi Club event there in the in May. As the Doc said, there are newly paved portions and still some really rough portions.
The price is right, but I don't see myself going there.

If you guys don't feel like running that is fine. Come watch at least and check out the cars and driving. I'll be observing for a while before diving into the driving.
