I think a lot of craftsman stuff has gone south. The socket set that I'm replacing is 20+ years old - never broke anything, just lost/misplaced various sockets over time to the point that it's almost useless. Also, I have a floor jack that my father bought, probably almost 30 years ago. Still works fine, not like the horror stories that I've read about new ones.
What kind of prices we talking here? I could use a couple of torque wrenches (one sized for lug nuts and the like, one for small stuff) and some coated sockets in various metric sizes...
