Dedicated S2000 track junkies run Motons or Penskes;KW-V3 are acceptable for budget racers and Auto-X.

Some classes require a non-coilover set up and in those cases Koni is fine.

$1600 wouldn't even get you a rebuild on a set of Motons

As for the comment about your lowering ride height not affecting handling, why even buy coilovers with with height adjustment. What are you gonna raise the car up? If what you say is true, then why don't you go buy a set of adjustable shock like Koni's and use your stock springs if there's no difference?
First, I hope you didn't pay $1600 for your Buddy Clubs, I've seen them priced from $1050 to $1300. They are on the cheap side for coilovers.
Second, Tein flex - an okay STREET coilover, nothing more.
Third, are you SURE Buddy Club has an R&D department?
Fourth, Your argument was about the stock suspension and your ability to run circles around anyone on the track because of your coilovers and their lowered ride height and stiffer springs.

I may get coilovers to raise my car a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. I lowered my car with stiffer springs and my handling got worse. I don't trust my car when pushed like I used to.

Just remember what the R&D philosophy of many of the aftermarket companies is.

"Rip Off and Duplicate"

Most off the S's that I have been in on the track that are lowered (springs or coilovers) performed worse. There are very few that actually make any car better. The only coilovers that I would put on my car would be the KW, Bilstien PSS9, Or the upper end H&R. Also, most people do not know how to set up a car. lower and stiffer must include bars, alighnment, body stiffening, and more tire contact patch.
My preference would be to increase roll stiffnes and increase rebound dampening at stock ride height. Many suspensions need the axis of travel to function properly.

This topic is getting old. He is trying to tell you that we have all done this and done that with suspension. Ubetit has had more combinations of wheels and suspension than anyone locally here. I have also installed many set ups over the years and I will no longer post in this thread. Your posts sound like how old you might be. please do not turn this into a civic type forum.

Age has nothing to do with this and if Ubetit has had more setups than anyone else then why is he running lowering springs? I'm not claiming I have the ultimate track setup, but I will argue the point that my setup is better than our stock suspension anyday, ANYDAY. As for the Civic forum comment, I wish this forum would turn into one. The last Civic forum I was on waaay more helpful than this place. The moderators there at least had a clue, and could give helpful input and could take criticism and learn from it. It's apparent that the Mods here(or at least a few) already know everything there is and don't need to hear different views.

Wow, I leave for a week, and look at what starts.

Lowap1, please tell us of all your suspension development expertise. When you got the Coil overs did you consider the effects of lowering your car (i.e. static roll center, dynamic roll center migration, bump steer, camber gain change from static height, anti-dive geometry change). How about the effects of chassis stiffness vs roll stiffness? Did you at least consult with the R&D engineers to get their expert opinion?

I love when people think their crap doesn't stink but everybody else has the worst smell on Earth. To say you are more of an expert than others without listing why is like pissing in the wind. BTW, I am no supsension chassis expert, but I do understand some of the basics, which must be considered with due dilligance should you decided to modify to improve the envelope of performance.

Not sure how I missed this, but anyway.....

First off...
Nowhere does it state that Moderators need to be all-knowing/technical experts. S2ki.com has several Moderators that don't even own S2000s....so, that argument doesn't hold much merit.
When it comes to technical inquiries I would advise that you take those into the specific forum that addresses those technical questions. The Ohio community has many people that have done suspension work on their car, but the knowledge pool is relatively small.

Having said that, I think there are stil lots of good thoughts in here so I am inclined not to lock this thread (yet).........just cut down on the finger pointing ...
