I understand you point by far Joe...but I don't feel that the MX's are cheap...please point out the facts that make them cheap (and no i'm not being sarcastic...very serious.....I know that you know ur sh!t when it comes to cars so i'm listening)

Tread wear is essentially meaningless between brands. They don't test the same way, though all companys reference the same tire.
The compounds are not comparable, and neither is the construction.
"Good deal" and "tires" do not belong together when talking about a sports car!

Tim,
MXs are fine tires. It does it's job. I'd me more than happy to get MX if they offered correct size on 16" OEM wheels.
I've heard nothing but good things about SO3s so this is no way in shape or form that I am trying to knock down the Bridgestone tires.
Kumho makes fantastic tires including Victoracer series. Now as far as calling MX a cheapo tire goes, I guess it really is no more than personal preferrence expressed in generalization which really has no ground for backing up any facts.
Having said that, Tim, I think you did alright with your tire choices. People looked at me funny when I tracked my car with RE750s. Well, in fact that is the only tire I've used at the track events in the past including last one at Mid Ohio. According to what we know, SO2 has best dry handling by far. SO3 is great as well with wet traction to boot.
But I did fine. In fact, I ran rings around people with much stickier tires. Mind you 04 GT3 lost control near turn 2. What ultimately controls the car in and out of it limit is the driver behind the wheel. Tires are no less important than any parts of the car however, when you are comparing SO3 and MX in street application, I beg to differ from some of your opinion on here.
I didn't say which is better. All I am saying is MX is fantastic tires for the price and the capabilities. Ask any avid auto x or track people. I know plenty of them who swears by Kumho brands and Bridgestone equally.
Ok, I will shut up now.

Don't get me wrong, Tim, it's your car. I used to try to help people with tire choices, but I gave up, for this very reason. Too many people think a $100 all-season tire will be just as good as a $240 OE summer tire designed specifically for the car (talking about the Evo, but the same applies here). If you think the MX is as good as the S03PP based on a somewhat arbitrary comparison, great. The last time I drove MXs on an S2000, I was afraid of off-ramps because the back end of the car wanted to scoot out on every turn. But shit, what do I know?
Anyway, if you want to skimp on the single most important component of your car, be my guest. Put Kelly Chargers on it for all I care - $29/each with a 100,000 mile guarantee!
