Default Watch Talk

Well with graduation approaching ive been told I get to pick out a watch (lucky me ) Ive been looking at models from Tag and Breitling and wondering who has experience with these two brands, What I have been told so far that Tag Heuer makes a great "beater watch" because the can take alot of abuse. Breitling is easier to break I guess and if you would say "less reliable" then the Tag's.

Here are the 2 im currently looking at:

Tag Carrera Chrono limited:

and Breitling SuperOcean:

Both are priced similar.

Im leaning toward the Tag just cause I love the black tachymeter and Bezel.

Im also open to other possibilites so speak up people and share your experiences.

I had the Tag linked below a few years back, and it's been my favorite of anything I had at any price range. It was tough as a watch can get; I'm hard on my stuff and beat the hell out of it, and the day I sold it after two years of use it didn't have a scratch on it. I've regretted selling it ever since... Thanks for the reminder, I'll be looking to get another one very soon.

It's heavy though, so make sure you're comfortable with that.

I also liked the fact that it was not pretentious and most people had no idea what it was. The Breitling is probably more reconizable and flashy, but I don't like that. I once came into a good deal on a Rolex that I also sold rather quickly because I didn't like all the attention that came along with it - I always felt like I was showing off and rubbing people's faces in it...

Oh, I think you can get it with a black face as well, and I know you can get the middle links on the band either polished or satin finished.

Nice, thanks for the heads up on the weight part of it, im going to have to go to a local jewler to check that out to see how the watch feels.

The one in the link looks ok, I like them a bit larger myself though, 40mm+ this one again looks perfect.

Personally I do not care for rolex, I think of them as a senoir citizen watch. maybe when im older, as growing up I rememeber my grandpas wearing them lol.

What does everyone else like for an everyday watch?

I really like my TAG. It has a practical quality to it, beyond just telling time. Great looks and durable. Breitling makes some beautiful watches, but they seem to have a lot of "bling" that is just not me. A little too rap-star for my taste.

<---iphone.. (everyday watch)
<---Omega Seamaster for when I actually wear a watch.

I agree with Scott... the Breitling's are very nice..but some of them look too busy and a bit too blingy for me. TAG makes great watches.... reasonably priced, and classy.. some of the lower end ones had some quality issues, but overall, I think they are very nice. Not sure if I'd buy a watch on ebay though... lots of fakes out there.
