AUGUST MEET IS POSTPONED! We will regroup in September on the 15th.

Got the itch to take a Saturday early morning drive on the 1st, anyone else game? I'm planning a 2.5 hour round trip loop up through Locust Grove and Spavinaw, our usual route, then back over into Salina on School House RD. I've driven it a couple times now to check it out and its pretty nice! This is also sort of a final send off to my little white BMW, it will be gone the following weekend...

Hey gang,

I’ve essentially sold the BMW, although I’m having a hard time letting go and I’m running out of excuses for the new owner to take delivery. This will leave me without a fun car for a while so I might find myself bumming rides with some of you for the fall drive and toy drive coming up in the months ahead. Still working on a visitation schedule so maybe I can borrow it back for driving events... LOL!

Anyway, since this coming weekend will be my last weekend of ownership, I am going for a drive. An early Saturday morning drive. I already posted the route and idea up on the FB page and there is some good interest of getting a group together. So this is the invitation to those of you that may not visit the FB page very often.

The plan is to meet at the empty Homeland parking lot in Catoosa by 7:30 and be ready to hit the road by 8am. I wanted to do it early since this is a holiday weekend and we don’t want to take up too much of your free time, heck, I’m headed to the lake for the weekend right after the drive is over myself.

If you are not familiar with the location of area abandoned grocery stores, take the 193rd street exit at the Hard Rock Casino and turn back south one block. The parking lot is located cattycorner from the QT. The X with a dot and highlighted in Yellow.

Once we leave Catoosa our route will take us east on Hwy 412 to Locust Grove where we will make a quick stop and regroup. From here we head north up to Salina and Spavina to the dam. Then on up to Jay and down Hwy 10 till we hit School Rd to take us back to Salina and Locust Grove. I anticipate about a 2-2.5 hour round trip? The attached map is starting from Locust Grove and shows the loop we will drive.

Everyone is welcome to join us. Just remember this is a leisurely cruise with some spirited driving included, not a race, not a road rally. We will be on narrow 2-lane roads with lots of farms and country bumpkins so be aware of the slower traffic and just enjoy the drive even if we get caught behind someone hauling hay or something.

Next C&G meet is scheduled for September 15th at the usual LaFortune parking lot from 9am-noon. Our FB page is pushing 500 so maybe we can have a huge turnout at next months meet!
