Default My first mod.

So, my Alpine V12 overheated and died a strange death. It still works, but it doesn't turn off. It stayed on all the time, regardless of the remote wire being connected or not. If anyone wants it to mess with, lemme know. To replace it I got a Kenwood KAC 8404. The two built-in cooling fans were the main selling point. The Alpine was set up like so:

Which was alright unless I had to put stuff in the trunk. Freakin thing ran so hot I was worried about it ruining cold groceries on the drive home.

The Kenwood is much smaller than the Alpine, so I found a better place to put it.

I had to remove the insulation from above the spare to get it to fit properly. It would fit with it in there, but there wasn't enough room for air flow. The cut in the tire cover is just to let some air in there. Not pretty, but it works. I could have used a thinner piece of MDF for the amp to sit on, and that would have made it a little easier, but this works, and I'm happy with my spare-retaining stealth setup!

Yeah, I wanted to keep it in the trunk cause the wires were already routed back there, and I wanted to keep the spare.

I had that idea, but my JL 500/1 is too big I made an amp rack to go in the place of the spare tire. Ditching the spare tire sucks, but oh well. My sub box took the place of the jack/tools anyways, so i figured I'm screwed either way if I get a flat. That's what roadside assistance is for! LOL

Good job on your install!

I considered doing that, and I've been checking the amp temp after long drives. It's been cool to the touch every time.
