Our day started out with a couple of small setbacks - a huge traffic jam of those going to the Rose Festival Air Show, and a few early morning showers. However, that didn't dampen our spirits!
At the starting location we get reaquainted and talk with the new drivers:
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
And then we are outta there:
...
Heading out Hwy. 26:
...
...
And on Hwy. 47:
...
...
...
We arrive at the first pit-stop and set up our photo line:
...
Then wait for the other two groups to arrive:
...
Aaron's group arrives next and then Amy's:
...
...
But wait! What's that behind Amy's group?
...
...
Its non-other than the Portland Mini Club doing the same thing we are!
...
...
The "standoff":
...
But then they are off in their direction and we are off in ours:
...
...
Approaching Astoria - 22S2000s strong!:
...
We arrive at Dooger's for lunch:
...
...
...
...
Doug spots a problem with Phong's tire. He and Aaron help check it out:
Following lunch we headed south in our groups. The ocean was beautiful and the day got better the further south we went:
...
We arrive at our afternoon pit-stop. Aaron brings in the second group:
...
"Hardtop Jim" and Leanne arrive:
...
A short time later Amy leads her group in:
...
Anthony arrives:
...
We find out that while the first two groups were able to traverse the neighborhoods on the way to the park quite civily, Amy's group seems to have raised the ire of the locals who yelled profanities at them!
While we hang out at the park, Chris "does windows":
...
We hang out and chat:
...
...
And then we leave the park:
...
And head down Hwy. 101:
...
...
...
...
We arrive at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Now they ought to call it the Tillamook Ice Cream Factory as we all secretly know THAT is why we are there.
We go upstairs for a birds-eye view of the cheese processing facility:
...
Jim smiles knowingly when he realizes why we are separated from the factory by a glass wall - the workers on the other side are cutting cheese!
...
We all get in line for ice cream. Doug buys enough for his whole family and then "remembers" that they aren't along today:
...
And, of course, when you go to the Tillamook Cheese Factory all of the kids want to have their pictures taken in the cut-out faces of the cow and farmer:
Here's Geoff and Paul2:
...
...
Amanda and Brian:
...
...
And Leanne and Jim:
...
...
We re-group outside:
...
And then head to our cars for the trip back home:
...
Thanks to all who attended and made this a great drive.
A hearty welcome goes out to our new attendees: Tyler, Aharon, Tommy and Phong. We hope to see you again!
