Co organized drives
I was surfing the pacnw. S2ki forum and was putting in my .02 on the topic of lack of drives. just curious I had assumed the Co organized drives were open to anyone with an S2k. Not just Oregon owners? Whats the rules on all that? I was merely extending a friendly " hey if your looking for a drive come visit".......Apparently this is frowned upon? Larry, Aaron care to shed some light on this? Didn't want to step on anyone's toes. Btw here is the thread is was referring to Pac Nwest lack of drives

Hi Justin,
Look at the bottom of the S2Ki Oregon Drive & Event Schedule post: Here
Or at the bottom of each and every actual drive post where we limit the drives to forum members who are part of our local forum and who reside in Oregon or S.W. Washington. The same message is shown there.
This has been discussed extensively, but probably prior to your involvement.
The short answer is that for a variety of reasons Aaron and I want to limit the drives to just our group.
Don't worry - you didn't open a can of worms!

The primary reason for it is management. When the drives first got started, they weren't as popular as they are now.
We used to allow the PacNW guys join us because it wasnt an issue. We would have anywhere from 5-20 cars INCLUDING them. As the drives got more popular we started having more and more people from our own area attend and it got difficult to handle managing 30+ cars, both from a drive leader perspective (even with our extra leaders with Doug and Amy) and logistics (ever tried getting 30 people through a small town of stoplights and traffic and then find a place for them to all eat?). Doable, but not easy. Before I knew better, I even tried to discuss it with Larry about how we could still do it, but having done drives now where we had limited administration (Larry was out of the country, so it was Doug, Amy and myself with 32 cars), I realized it is simply too much.
In essence, our own local forum grew to the point that we had to put some kind of limit on the drives. Even now our group is large enough that we've had to start rethinking our old car limit (20 cars per drive) because we dont want to alienate those who cant sign up soon enough and allow as many as we can from our own area to join in.
Our primary "job" is to serve the local group, so we had to put that at the forefront when we closed out the other regions.

The PacNW guys are a good group. A majority of their group prefers to do meets rather than drives, but that doesn't stop their members from planning some on their own. This group is just really lucky to have Larry who has put in the *tons* of time planning routes, timing them, finding rest areas and tracking down twisty side roads for us to play on all while making sure the destination is worth going to.
Is there a drive associated with the Homecoming event? I thought it was just an all day meet and greet with food and booths and such. And I believe there is a team of about 100 people making that one go according to plan
