Default Cryogenic tempering in town?

Checked in the resource list and didn't see anything. Did a Google search and came up empty. Looking to get some KIA 4.77 hardened.

Looking for a local place so I can avoid shipping cost, anybody know of a place?

Met-tek = negative

Beaverton Heat Treating = negative

Spoke with Boris from Met-tek and he explained that for case hardened steel (which gears are made from) require a temp drop rate of -1 degree F a minute to somewhere below -300 degrees F (can not remember exact temp). Then the temp should be held for 20hrs and brought back up in the same manner.

Beaverton Heat treating was nice enough to recommend Stack Metalurgical, contacted and waiting response.....

Update:

The cost of doing a true crygenic hardening as described above is around $500. The offers that are seen online for about $100 are only treating gears down to -120f. I spoke with sales at Stack, they have both capabilites and quoted the prices just listed. Sales explained that with case hardend alloy strength gained at -120f is marginal, the 8% gains (non-marginal) are achieved at below -300f.

I will not be giving my $300 kia gears a cold bath.
