Driving through OR
Hey Andrew if your heading to Florence from Eugene, go west on hwy 126 then hit Poodle Creek road and head towards Traingle lake to Sweet Home or Mapleton, its about a 45 minute detour towards the coast but the roads have a bunch of 25 and 40 mph curves and hardly no traffic.

I am currently in Eugene and plan on driving the from Eugene to the coast and down 101 on Monday and Tuesday.
I took that route from Portland to San Francisco about half a year ago and it's great, lots of time on the coast, lots of great curvy roads. Be sure to go through the California Redwood's (a ways above San Francisco) during the day because you do not want to miss that beautiful sight. You'll go right through the Oregon Sand Dunes too - might want to stop and check that landmark out. My favorite part of that particular trip was when I was following behind an econobox through a particularly curvy part of 101 near the redwoods - they had to use their brakes for every turn, I just downshifted.
I did that same route from Eugene to Florence (very fun road) and then down 101 about 2 years ago. It was a lot of fun until I got to Port Orford. That's where I got my ticket. Small town revenue generator got me squealing my tires.
Thank you for the info and the attempted meet for a stranger. I will take that road to Florence and if i see any of you on the road i will be the one keeping the flash alive. Hope to see you out there.
Andrew
