Gorge Run
Never heard anything back on this link, so I consoled myself this morning with a run up Hwy 14 on the WA side of the river and looped back at the Bridge of the Gods and then hit the old highway. Very nice morning for a top down cruise.
My car is up to 850 miles now and the drivetrain/suspension is starting to open up a bunch now and hints at what is yet to come. I have still held the engine to mostly below 6K RPMs with one or two 3/4 throttle runs up to 7K so far. It still feels like the engine is a little constrained up at the top, so I am easing it up there until about the 1K mile mark.

So, I scouted some roads for a cruise later in the year. I'm thinking June 4th or June 5th. All day with designated meeting points for those not starting at the origin.
Start in Newberg:
Cruise down to Corvallis via Independence (anything but 99W!). South to Monroe on Bellfountain Road, then west on Alpine Road to Alsea. To Waldport, Newport and back to Philomath. Head back north on Kings Valley Hwy through Dallas and back to Newberg.
Optional short-cut would be to turn right at Alsea and drive straight back to Philomath for the Kings Valley Finish.
If someone helps me out, we can have Tulip instructions of all the major intersections. That would cost money, though... reproducing a couple hundred mile route in Tulips takes paper... but no one gets lost!

Sounds like a fun drive... I don't know Oregon that well and appreciate folks taking the reigns on planning our future drives. Let's stick with the Gorge run first, when the weather gets better, and then go from there for future plans.
My old roommate just got a 05 white S...
It is getting shipped here and he should have it on thursday this week, so I will make him get on here too, or atleast tell him when the meets are and he will go too

Damn... too many GPW's!
I just met a guy last week with an 04 GPW and told him about the forum, plus my best buddy Kevin has a white 04.
I guess if my car sells I should reconsider the MY05 GPW.

They aren't making them with any choice on interior color as far as I know. Tan is the only option. I actually never liked tan interior but it is starting to grow on me a bit because it very light in color compared to say a Buick or Cadillac tan.
I wish I could still get red or even black though...
