Default Headlight damage

Hello everyone

this is my 1st post so i hope ive put it in the right location.
anyway down to business, i bought my s2k just last week and the driver side headlight came with some haziness and a few scratches

it doesn't really have much impact when it comes down to driving at night but im not a big fan of the whole scratched up hazy look. any ideas on how to get this looking clearer? the previous owner said he tried buffing it out and i tried some blue magic headlight restorer with little to no result. maybe i should just buy a new housing all together? the cheapest i was able to find was 400$ on ebay. Or maybe you have a spare that you don't need anymore and just want to give to me that's always cool, but if you want some cash for one that's in good shape it'd be fine by me to, just send me a pm.

First off welcome! As for removing the haze on your headlights you could use Meguiar's PlastX and use it with a buffer. I have seen a lot of people including myself (not on the S) have great success with PlastX and a buffer.

There are others on this Oregon forum as well as the 'wash and wax' forum that can help. I saw that there's one member in the W&W forum that used this method. My link

Good luck and hope to see you on the drives.

They make restoration kits - I would say you need the agressive set. Below is a DIY link.

HAHAH - we posted the same link -

BTW - I used the plastix on my tail lightss, head lightss, and CHMBL. It did a good job, but your pic looks like you might need to go the sanding route listed in the linkS above.

I've wetsanded with high grit sandpaper (2000+) and then followed with the Mequiar's headlight kit (PlastX and a wool buffing pad for a power drill) with great results.

with that kind of scratch, i would start with wet 800 grit and work my way up to 2000+. the 3M kit will provide all the necessary parts, even the buffer attachment. make sure to dip those sand papers in water. don't get new lens, my headlight used to look like that

and welcome

Austin! Welcome! Bring it my my house next nice weekend and I'll help u detail the new whip and try to restore your headlight. It looks like it's just the outside ofv the lense so shouldn't be hard.
