Without actually hearing the knock or ticking sound in person, its really hard to make the right suggestions, have you already try searching the "under the hood" threads?

Whenever this question comes up, the usual suggestions are:

1. Maybe it was bad gas, so drive it real easy, don't vtec, and when you're at about 1/2 tank of gas left, try adding like a gallon of race gas, or few bottles of octane boosters in your tank and see if the knock goes away.

2. You mentioned you had a recent valve adjustment. It could be that something was torque to spec, so maybe a valve ticking sound. The timing chain sound is nothing like a knock as you said, it will be hard to mistaken the two.

Yeah, its really hard to diagnose the problem without actually hearing it.

How long did it last for?

Did it sound like a bottem end rod knock?

It might be the start of your tensioner going out. Mine is and its not the average "ticking" sound you'd hear come from the head. Its loud, almost like a diesel engine

Tensioner noise is very easy to discern though....very fast paced "chatter". My tensioner has been a chronic problem. It's very easy to pull and rewind, reinstall and you're good to go...for a while.

You need to have a professional look at your car. That way you can be sure on what is going on. Don't spend money or time looking for parts you may not need.

so after talkin to the shop owner where my car is, we came to the conclusion that its goin to have to have a new crank and bearing, maby a few miner things. we found the problem

the bearing flatened out and was losing oil pressure. you can see it there. would a oil cooler help ya think?

no an oil cooler wouldn't be the solution for this problem. Solution to this problem would be making sure your oil is full, don't over rev. on down shifts, and make sure you have correct oil pressure. And of course whom ever is assembling the engine must do it correctly in order to insure that pore clearances are not a cause for engine failure.
