Before you have anything replaced you should seriously consider dropping in a used short block. At some point the engine must've been past 9k which flattened the rod bearing and lost oil pressure which resulted in the bearing spinning. Chances are the rest of your bearings aren't in the best of shape either. Not to mention you need to drop the crank and have it resurfaced.
Just buy a used low mileage 03 block; they have the upgraded banjo bolt and hold up to high rpms a little better than previous years. Also S2k's have factory oil coolers, hell most cars do. Buying an aftermarket one will be nearly pointless.

I know you may laugh and say no way...but I have a 2004 with only 7K miles on it and I had the same noise you were talking about. I went to the dealer and he listened to it, put his hand down around the belt while the motor was running and pulled off a small piece of paper that is mounted on the front of the motor...it is some kind of identification tag...and it was that piece of paper that was bouncing against the belt. I didn't believe him so I watched him pull the paper off the belt and the car was quiet. I watched him tap the paper on the belt and back came the sound. Never thought in a million years a piece of paper could do this...but I saw it with my own two eyes. Now the problem is solved.
