We took the S for a nice little cruise last weekend. I know by the Oregon s2ki club standards, this was a short trip, however for us it was significant. We traveled 1305 miles in 4 days. See map and photo’s below.
Day 1 - Friday, July 30, we left in the afternoon and drove up the Oregon side of the gorge until Cascade Locks where we crossed over to Washington. We then drove towards White Salmon to BZ corner and Glenwood and then to Goldendale. We wanted to re-drive this route beings we went by it with the s2ki club so fast last time we didn't see much. From Goldendale we went through Yakima and spent the first night in Ellensburg. (242 miles)
Day 2 - Saturday, July 31 we drove from Ellensburg to Wenatchee and onto Leavenworth, spent a couple hours walking the streets of Leavenworth, and then drove towards Seattle for just a few miles and spotted our first S. It was parked along the Wenatchee River and had New Jersey plates. Snapped a couple of photos and then went back through Leavenworth and onto Lake Chelan. Due to the fires burning in the area from lightning the night before, smoke was pretty heavy and visibility wasn't that great. Still a beautiful place. We left Lake Chelan and headed south through Wenatchee and shared a wave with a Spa Yellow S. While getting gas in Quincy, the store keeper said there were some big thunderstorms heading our way and was warning a motorcyclist to take cover. We figured we could get around the storm, wrong. The rain and hail was hitting our car so hard we were thinking it was going to take out the windshield or top. Luckily we found an overpass to hide under along with 10 other cars and 2 motorcycles. We all hunkered down for about ½ an hour and let the storm pass. We then went on to Kennewick, WA. (283 miles)
Day 3 – Sunday, August 1 we left Kennewick and went through Walla Walla onto Athena, OR past Spout Springs ski resort and onto Elgin. This was a beautiful drive. We then went through Enterprise to Joseph where we wandered around town and got some lunch. We then drove up to Wallowa Lake and tried to take a little nap. This area is absolutely beautiful. Next time we will probably go straight to Enterprise, get a hotel and take day trips from there. We then headed towards LaGrande, Baker City and got a hotel in John Day, OR. (365 miles)
Day 4 – Monday, August 2 we left John Day and stopped by the Fossil beds and Painted Hills near Dayville and Mitchell. If the s2ki club ever decides to take a trip to this area, the John Day Fossil beds is an excellent rest stop area. A big parking lot with very few cars, nice facilities, and a museum. We then proceeded onto Bend with intentions of heading for the high lakes but were getting a bit worn out. So we headed to Sisters and ended up spending the night in Black Butte with some friends. (182 miles)
Day 5 – Tuesday, August 3 we took off from Black Butte and headed back to Gladstone via Silverton and Molalla. (136 miles)
Our favorite part of the drive was from Walla Walla to Wallowa Lake and then the area from Baker City to about Mitchell. It was our first major trip with the S and the more I drove it, the more I loved it. We are looking forward to our next adventure.

Very awesome drive, Arnie. We've talked about getting the group out to the Painted Hills before. It'd be a great trip, but a bit long for a single day.
Good times and the perfect way to enjoy top down (except for the storm)
