Default New Spark Plugs

Last week I decided that I was going to check my plugs and replace them with Denso Iridium IK22's due to some minor issues I have been noticing lately.
-rough idle (intermittent)
-poorer gas mileage than usual
-powerband not as smooth as usual

Keep in mind I only have 24K miles and the plugs have been replaced with the new NGK's over the TSB/recall.

Being that these are platinum long life plugs stock I figured they would look fairly good in condition. There was some scorching on the ceramic portion and very heavy amounts of crud on the electrode and top ring area.

The stock plugs can likely be revived with a little sanding/cleaning but I figured I would rather just opt for some new plugs. I didn't choose the IK24's that some prefer as it is 1 step colder and I am stock. If you are FI or heavily modded it may have some performance increase to go to the IK24's. I gapped these to the suggested 0.039-0.044

Impressions so far:
-Idle is better and has not been falling at stop lights- too early to be ceratin though
-Gas mileage cannot be determined yet as I have only driven about 30 miles so far
-Power delivery is noticeably better and seems much more linear aside from the abrupt transition of VTEC.

Just thought I would share this with everyone here since our plugs are not reccomended for change until 105,000 miles. I opted to do it sooner and have been happy with my early (semi inconclusive) observations.

Just to follow up.... I have done all other maintenance on or before the schedule up to this point and figured the spark plugs were the only possible explanantion to my issues.

I will post my impressions of mileage after I have gone through a full tank.

Glad you found it useful Kelvin! I was surprised that I would see any benefit in replacing them but the car is DEFINITELY running like a new car again.

I've tried the Zex 82003 plugs and they work fine.No better or worse than the NGK or Denso and they are about $20 for 4.
