Default Rag Top Replacement Recommendation

My 2000 ap1 is in need of a new top. I am looking for a recommendation on where to purchase a new top and a recommendation for a shop in the Portland area to do the install.

Ron Tonkin Honda has a pretty good reputation as far as quality installs for the soft top.

Buy an oem top, the aftermarket tops available I have seen are not even close to oem quality. As far as a shop to install your looking to pay 800-1000 dollars.

^^

Personally, I've heard people rave about Robbins tops.

I'll have to get mine done someday.

I have heard the same thing. Also there are loads of people who like the Ez-on brand.

i have not seen the robins brand tops in person, I have seen 3 different brands of the tops you see all over ebay 450-650 dollars. And the stitching is horrible and the fabric is sewn in a different pattern than oem and looks weird after 6 months they all began to tear..

If robins or ez is a good brand go with them. Stay away from ebay.

Beaverton Auto Upholstery, got a stayfast canvas top, about 1400 installed. Not stiff. Great install/product, but only had it 3 months.

If you were closer to yakima i'd help you install your top. I installed mine and honestly it wasn't too difficult, just very time consuming since I did it by myself. I had a plastic window that cracked and wanted to upgrade to a glass window. After I received a quote for $1700+ for a new robbins top including install, I decided to save some money and attempt it myself with a used OEM AP2 top that I bought from a member on the marketplace forum. Its much nicer than the plastic window and it came out wonderful!

I been thinking about doing the work myself. It looks likes a tedious project, and a test of patience. How long did it take you to complete the work? My thoughts are to go with the top from auto top direct. they use Stayfast material with a glass window for $600.00. I've gotten one quote for $650 for an install. I plan to check Brights, heard they do good work. I will also check Ron Tonkin.

What directions did you follow to do the install? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,
