Random Talk 2014
I have tried it all on my previous ap1 and my current ap2, basic bolt-ons (j's intake, comptech intake, j's header, mugen header, greddy SE exhaust, mugen exhaust, etc), Hayward itb's, camshafts, supercharger, and turbo. Your return on investment is low especially going n/a. FI will net better gains. One thing that can transform your car but not necessarily add hp is changing your final drive. For n/a I find that 4.44 is ideal. Although others have gone with 4.56.
Yeah I'm sure after the Flashpro tune, it'll be like squeezing water from a rock lol.
I think my friends like to forget that our cars make nearly 240hp from the factory, whereas the K in their DC5's are detuned to something like 200hp.
So of course bolt ons for their cars will yield more results than mine lol.
I'd really like to go FI and rock one of trackforged's turbo setups, but I always worry about reliability, since this car is my daily. I'll need to stop by there again at some point to get some questions answered.

well, to be fair, the test pipe and flashpro are probably the two best bang for your buck mods you can make anyway. after that my friend, your return on investment greatly diminishes lol.

for the most part, i have done the bolt ons at some point for the dbw ap2. intake, toda header, tp, different exhausts, flashpro (had stock toda tune, not custom tune), and gears.
i would say the header netted the least gains for me. the stock header was a very well designed piece. as is most of the engine itself.
There was a great little Best Motoring/Hot Version video of a stock ap1 vs stock ap2 vs ap1 with "bolt-ons" and gears. Search on YouTube for "s2000 mega battle" or something like that.
I've been to pir several times now with my car in various stages of my build. With just bolt ons (no tune) and ap1 tranny, compared to the same setup with 4.44 gears the car accelerated out of corners much better. In general acceleration all around was noticeably improved. As the car sits now with itbs, ap2 tranny gears and a tune the gears complement the itbs mid range. The car accelerates very quickly out of corners and the gears get you to the next gear.
Check out that best motoring video did a good job of showing the difference.
