Sad to say, I won't be able to join in the fun after all. A date opened up to have my remaining cataract removed before I lose my current medical insurance and I had to jump at the chance. That'll happen on Thursday, and I don't think it's a good idea to set off for a top-down adventure two days later.I still have both my motel reservation and my Jetboat reservation. I'll wait until Monday to cancel, so if anybody could use either one please let me know ASAP. Either respond here or by PM.
Have a great time everyone. Has anyone let the restaurants know that Ira's coming? They may want to stock up on extra bread!...

I might be a little paranoid and doubt anyone is crazy enough but are there security cameras in the parking lot at the hotel we're staying at and/or is the parking pretty well lit? Has there been any extra pre-cautionary things taken in the past overnight trips like asking the hotel staff to check periodically after 12 PM?
I'm probably a little overprotective but anything to deter a thief is worth it, IMHO. Plus, I know we all love our cars and have put quite a bit of money in them, directly or indirectly.

Most hotel parking lots are decently lit.
To be honest, we've never had any issues over the years and we've stayed at some pretty....rustic....places.
I don't think you have too much to worry about.
I did speak with the manager when setting up the block about sectioned parking and they said they might be able to depending on how the weekend gets booked up so there is a good chance we will all be cordoned off by ourselves anyway.
