Rpm drop
So once again I have run into this trouble. When I start my car the rpm is at 1000 but then will drop even lower to like 500.
I was wondering if anyone have this problem or know how to solve it. Last time Djmike and I took out the intake and clean the throttle.
Seem to make it a lot better.....for awhile. Now I run back to it again and was wondering what is doing this.
Its not the sensor for sure since we swap mike's into mine and it still did it anyways.
For now it doesn't do anything but drop when idle for awhile or start of the car. But before we clean the throttle, I was driving and it would kill itself WHILE driving. It would just turn off in the middle of driving. I haven't run into since that day. just trying to find out if anyone know a permanent solution to this, or do I just have to clean the throttle often?
thanks

sounds like it could be a throttle positioning sensor. I am not 100% sure but normally they are fairly sensitive to cleaners. If it cannot get a good read you can have rpm spikes. Which would be the ecu trying to lean out the fuel/ air ratio Or I could be completely wrong..... Wouldn't

Their is no sensor that dictates idle or idle quality; only half true I guess. The TPS and RPM are the only thing that dictates when the motor should be idling. Then it factors in other things to hit the right idle RPM. The IACV is just a valve that's controlled by the ECU, not a sensor.
So I'm assuming that sense you switched "sensors", that you really mean that you switched IACV's.

i am completely stock and by sensor i mean the map sensor.
It idle normal at around 1000 rpm but it will drop to 500 and come right back up.
No mods in the engine at all so I don't know what is going on :\ the only way to fix it for now is to clean the throttle but it reappear after awhile, just trying to find the right solution to fixing this.

Have you tried scanning the computer for any pending trouble codes? That might give you some more information. If there are no pending codes then the next thing I would do is a live datastream on it with a scanner to see what the sensors are doing when this happens. Basically just need more information.
