Default Seat warmers.......

Been thinking about this for a while and I'm thinking about investing in some seat warmers for my S. The site I'm looking at is Heated Seats Kit.
It looks like from previous posts that you can get a discount if ordered in a group buy.
I'm not sure of which seat warmer to order for the S, but I can find out. From previous posts it looks like the H3 was used with great success and they got a group discount.
I will call and confirm this but is anyone else interested? I think Garret said on the last drive that this was something that was on his winter "to do" list this year.

What do ya think?

I know that Geoff (heavenlyhonda) has heated seats. I would try to pick his brain a little also!

long as they are not made by VW, a friend of mine actually got burnt when hers caught the seat on fire... not trying to scare you sure it will be ok definitely a cool idea

This is something a few of us have talked about over the last couple of years, no one has ever took the lead on it, but it'll be great if we can keep our buns warm in the cool weather.

Larry has heated seats in his S, you may want to talk to him for information.

Elizabeth wants them pretty bad. I should probably look into getting them for the Jeep as well, so I might be in for two sets - maybe even three.

I researched this in depth before I had my seat heaters installed.

This doesn’t fall into the category of a DIY project at all.

When I had my car painted I talked to the body shop about this. They said that the S0000 seats were a nightmare. There are literally dozens of bull clips that hold everything together. It takes a special upholstery tool to open and close these clips. If you don’t know what you are doing, you will end up with lumps and uneven stretching of the leather.

I proceeded to Coach Automotive out in Beaverton. They have a great reputation for doing heated seats and do many high-end cars. They also carry a reputable line of seat heaters. The brand is Katzkin. If you do a Google search you will find that they are highly rated by all the car groups and come with a 5 year warranty (which includes the installer removing the seats and replacing a defective heater IIRC).

So, just getting a “good price” on the heaters and then facing pulling out your seats and tearing them apart (and running a high-current power source & installing switches) may not be the approach you want.

I would suggest that someone work with Coach Automotive to get a “group install” price.

I had mine installed 5 years ago and the price was $495. Dave had Coach do his more recently, so he might chime in with what he paid.

We have used ours a lot. When we pre-drove the Lake Chelan drive a couple of years ago, we found ourselves in a snow storm. We cranked up the seat heaters and the heat in the car and continued on – top down and comfy. I can tell you that the Significant-Other factor is greatly improved with the seat heaters! It’s a good investment.

We would be interested as well, especially after the 38 degrees we hit up near Glenwood last weekend.
