Default Spare Chip Key

I am in the market for a spare transponder key for my '03. Any thoughts or advice out there?

Honda - I can't remember how much, but our 03's can easily be reproduced by the dealership. I got 2 keys done when I got my car since I only got 1 key, and 3 remotes - go figure!

^can be reproduced easily but isnt it rather expensive? i just got a new key fob from them and that took no more then 20 seconds (not exaggerating, they had it waiting, i drove through, and was out faster then i could get back into my car, reprogrammed and all). but i heard the get you pretty good on the keys

The AP1's don't need to be programed in the car like the AP2's. They can take the code off one key and program it onto another. The AP2's are a little more secure.

I had mine done at the parts counter. maybe 8-10 per key.

yeah fobs are easy, I could take your fob and program it to work for my car in a few seconds no prob.

If my memory is correct then the programmed keys cost about 1/2 hour labor ($50-60) and maybe 50-60 for the key? so it's around 100 bucks.

AP1 I don't believe have the anti-theft key. Does a green key light up on your dash during start up? If so then you need a programmable key.

Ahh and either way they should be able to cut the key specific to your VIN.

Let's do some math shall we?

AP1 = A*P*1

AP2 = A*P*2

therefore AP2 is 2x an AP1

Sorry, it's not me, it's just math!

this one too...

AP2 = x
AP1 = y

x>y
