Default Startup problems

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing:

So during the winter time, my car is pretty much garaged, and if there's no opportunities to drive it, it could be up to a month before I startup the car.

Today, even though is cold, sun is coming out, so I decided to take the car out. Well, the car doesn't start.. at all.. Battery is not dead, I have power to everything. The first 2 attempts, I can hear the starter, and the engine was having a hard time turning. I tried it again.. same thing.. Took the keys out, and check to see if maybe I'm out of oil (which is unusual), and no, plenty of oil. I got back in the car, and try to start her up again, and this time nothing at all.. the engine doesn't even turn this time.

At this time, when I turn my car on, the light on the dash comes on as normal, but as soon as I hit the startup button, all the lights goes out like if the battery is dead, and thats it.

Is my starter dead? Or is my battery dead?

Ok.. I knew it was something simple.. Just that in the pass, when I have a dead battery, I get no power what so ever, so this morning kinda threw me off because I still have power to everything, including the radio, and lights.

Sounds like your previous experience was with a battery that had a dead short - no juice at all.

This one has just enough for the accessories but not the starter.

Sometimes when I start my car in cold weather and after I depress the clutch pedal I hear a scratching noise coming from the engine somewhere. Larry, you know what that's all about??

Maybe a cat fell asleep on your warm engine?

Ahh. That makes sense.. I guess it is about time for me to get a new one anyway, since I'm still on the original battery.

I can't remember.. was it for the S2000's or ITR's when they had the super light weight battery replacements?

Time to use to the good old search buttons again.

I garage mine in the winter as well and I would recommend starting the engine every few days and let it run for about 10 minutes. This will help keep everything in good shape and not let things dry out and settle.

yep, I had a battery problem just a couple weeks ago, took it out and charged it overnight, everything was fine. Let me know if you need to borrow a charger?
