Summer Dinner & Drive suggestion
I was talking with Teresa today about a place a friend of mine has RAVED about to me. It's near Silver Lake and sort of "out in the middle of nowhere".
My friend told me it's amazing food and one of those places you have to try at least once.
Dinner is $23.50 per person and you have to call ahead of time to make reservations (You order at the time of reserving).
You get to choose a 26-30oz steak, or a whole chicken. That's it.
The rest of the sides are always the same (rolls, soup, salad, dessert).
They also have cabins you can rent for $100/night for two and that price includes dinner for two. The downside? No electricity...at all. No credit cards, no showers (I assume).
Info Here
it would be a long drive for the metro people, but if we made it a two day drive, it could turn out fun to explore the eastern part of the state too.
There isnt a whole lot out that way, but with some research I bet we could find some good roads, and there is also Fort Rock/Christmas Valley, Hole-in-the-Ground, Crack-in-the-Ground and more.
Info Here
Teresa and I were talking about going there for dinner, staying the night, then continuing on to Ashland to go enjoy the Shakespeare Festival.
Thoughts?

No electricity? No shower? count me OUT!
j/k That sounds like a an interesting place to eat. Man those are some portions and you can't split the dinner either. Sounds fun though. If there are enough people interested, I would go. If they have no shower be sure to bring a lot of deodorant.

I've actually slept in the car once when I was denied hotel rooms because they were all booked up in a small town I was passing through and the next nearest town was about 45 minutes away and I was exhausted. Talk about suck.
I do not recommend it.
