I'm almost certain the oem manifold is just a thick mild steel one. As far as heat wrapping is concerned I would not recommend it. Heat wrap traps moisture very easily and can lead to cracking. It's not likely given how thick the oem header is but the minimal gains aren't worth it. If you want gains you'd be better off dumping your HKS hi-power and going for something from T1R. Or you could just start saving and buy a used vortech kit .

best bang for your buck mod on the s2 in my opinion is a test pipe, if you dont mind all that comes with it, ie smell and killing out environment .

Is there a reason why you want to wrap your stock header if the heat shield is still there? i.e. Are you getting unexpectedly high engine temperature? Because often times, just upgrading the cooling mods will help with that. t-stat, fan switch, and high pressure rad cap.

the cooler the motor is the better it will run. and the heat sheild just deflects deat still makes it linger in the bay. idk it was realy just an idea. i realy dont want to run a CAI cuz well we live in oregon and i like puddle splashin but i mainly want it to cut down intake temp, wanna run a short ram next to the cut outs in the hood. oh by the way heres my new hood

you should be well ventilated with that hood, so i think your concern with heat soak on the intake shouldnt be too bad. you could always gut the stock box and add a snorkel and benefit from the cold air but not risk hydro locking? and if you still choose to wrap your header there are other benefits besides just lowering engine bay temps, in theory your keeping heat in the manifold, test pipe, exhaust, whatever your wrapping thus creating higher temps and allowing the exhaust gases to flow faster. in theory ha. or just buy a turbo kit frrom boostftw
