Default Top Gear and Fifth Gear

I've found a few others in the group that watch Top Gear on the BBC / USA rebroadcast. Some other friends of mine and I have been downloading original BBC broadcast recordings from people in the UK for a few years and I have most of them on my computer if anyone is interested.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, here are some clips from Top Gear and Fifth Gear episodes. I've selected ones that are a bit more ... oriented to our group (:

They also used the S2000 in a bit about grandmothers doing donuts. It was pretty funny. And in addition to all that one of the presenters for Fifth Gear, Vicki Butler-Henderson, drives an S2000 as her daily driver. She's also a professional race car driver.

I LOVE Topgear.

Jeremy Clarkson is the MAN!

Richard and James are great too though.

Been watching Top Gear for some time. Great show and funny! Fifth Gear is alright nothing compared to Top Gear though.

I wonder how Top Gear America is going to be?

TG America will probably suck. Which is unfortunate. There is also scheduled to be a TG Australia, which will probably be funny, but also suck.

Fifth Gear is more of a car review program, where Top Gear is more of entertainment revolving around cars in Britain. TG's hosts are not professional drivers - they're professional entertainers. Three of 5G's hosts are professional race drivers. I think they're even still competing. Also, Tiff Needel on Fifth Gear was a host on the original Top Gear from years ago. The show was canceled and recreated by Jeremy Clarkson.

I would agree that the drivers of 5th gear are professional drivers then the TG guys. TG is more entertaining and the reviews are pretty biased. I remember Tiff Needel in the original TG. I remember watching him test drive the NSX and the crazy Mclaren F1.

I really like Vicki from 5G and she owns a S2000 too! Remember the video of the Murano and S2000?

Vicki, Tiff, and Jason are actual honest race drivers. Tiff has been racing since 1970, including the British Touring Car Championship, Daytona, and a third place overall in the 1990 LeMans! Vicki's bio claims "She holds a Race National C license as well as a power boat racing license", and I think she's raced motorcycles as well. Jason (Plato) has been racing in BTCC for a few years as well, and is currently.

I think that really makes the difference between the two shows. The Top Gear guys are tons of fun to watch, but I often question their car knowledge. They're just out there having fun in great cars. The Fifth Gear group actually knows how to make the fast cars go fast.

I enjoy both shows, but haven't seen Fifth Gear for a while now. Even Mrs. GM3 likes Top Gear.

If you're a torrent downloader, the new season of 5G started this week. Newest episode is here:
