Default Transmission work

I had a shift into second at 7K result in a big bang and a lot of clanging. First and second gear no longer work.

I'll can do the removal and reinstall of the box but am not confident I can do a proper transmission repair so I am looking for a recommendation.

Would simply swap the box but buying a salvage yard box is no guarantee of proper operation.

Any suggestions?

Buy a used trans, it will be cheaper than fixing yours.

My thoughts exactly after just a day of research. Have a box coming from a clean wreck... it is a risk, but one I can afford.

One of the Honda Techs in Bama told me that he could buy a used tranny far cheaper than rebuilding one with his discount on parts and using his own labor. I knew the tranny parts were expensive, but not that bad.

Talk to Brian - he and I both got our tranny's from the same guy - he tests his before selling them.

Good opportunity to move to an AP2 trans as well. (assuming you are still on the AP1)

Like others have said it would be cheaper to install a newer used tranny. If you don't already have an ap2 tranny I'd recommend one. Makes a real nice difference.

If you are still looking for someone or somewhere to rebuild, We can do it for you.

Thanks. On a very tight budget I got a salvage yard box from Gundies and have it installed but still waiting for a couple of little parts before getting back on the ground and testing. Still just a big bet as to results.
