Parts are priced by 1) year model, 2) miles on wreck, 3) availability. An AP2 box would cost me more than twice as much as an AP1 so I went for another AP1 box.

Have it installed but still waiting for prop shaft bolts... parts availability is slim at the dealership level and getting them from the Honda warehouse through a distributor is slow (unless you can put a 'dealer priority' on the order and pay for enhanced shipping) so I am in a waiting game right now.

And after all this work the box may still be a problem... it is guaranteed but after all the work involved I can only hope it is acceptable because I am really tired of working on this car.

Update:

The trans is installed and frankly this salvage yard box is better than the one I had. No high rpm shifts yet as I am breaking in a new friction disk but the operation was a success.

BTW; no local dealerships had bolts for the prop shaft and the internet parts places want five days to get them from the Honda warehouse, BUT the Salmon Creek Tru-Value hardware that sells nuts/bolts by the piece had them!

I have left over a friction disk that is only 1.5 mm off the new spec... only 35K miles and I would not have ordered a new on if I knew how good this one is. So the FD and TO bearing are available for free. And I still have a set of almost new rotors and pads for free. PM if you want to pick up.

So in the last month I have done new rear wheel bearings, clutch, and trans. Have spent more time under this car than driving it so I am very happy to be done for now.

Congrats. I go to Parkrose Hardware for all my bolts and nuts needs. They have aisles of them and have big dedicated aisle of metrics bolts and nuts.
