Wind River pics
I ain't imbued with moderator power, but I thought I'd get a pics thread up and running for today's drive. Great to see so many start the drive. Bummer we didn't all finish under our own power (we need tow truck pics, please).
Good times as usual. It was good to see some old faces and new ones. Unfortunately I did not charge my GoPro after my track day this week so it was dead after I left Ihop. Any updates on Marc's car?
Yeah. We took the valve cover off, the intake cam was melted to the cam tower and broke, just the exhaust cam spins when you turn the crank, also found some metal shavings on top of the cam towers. When the tow truck driver was loading the car onto the flat bed, the tow hook broke and the car almost rolled off the cliff, me and mark stopped it by like 1.5 feet before it had a chance to fall off. If it wasn't for a little branch it would have hit the tree and would have gone down a 40 foot drop. So what I am trying to say is his car tried to commit suicide today
..very well said, Dima.
Thanks again for hanging around with me today and if it wasn't for you my car will be RIP. Also i want to say a big thank you again to John and Kari for providing the AAA towing truck. You guys are awesome.

That's crazy to hear, Marc!
Glad the car made it home "mostly" safe.
Dima, nice work helping him out with that.
Props to John and Kari for hanging behind when the rest of us had to make our way out too

That's what the S2k community is all about.
I found Jashan on the side of the highway with a toasted clutch too. He had a tow truck on the way as well which was due to show up any moment when I arrived. Any news on his?

Man, I knew my clutch slipped occasionally past few days so I thought I should make it through the drive unscathed. I knew a clutch order was in store, but just not this soon.
The drive itself was fine, for the first 20 minutes. I could not push the car at all, its a funny feeling hitting vtec and watching the speedo not increase
Basically, my clutch when we turned left uphill, started to burn more and more, and more. In Hindsight, I should have just gone back.
I have never shifted gears this many times in my whole life, just to keep the momentum up. I fell so far behind that I think I was like 30 minutes behind showing up the lake, because basically, I was limited to 40-50 mph and thats with shifting and feathering the throttle. It started to get worse, half way through the drive, and it was too late to turn back, because the distance would have been the same and I would have had to go uphill and didnt want to get stranded in the middle of the forest. Atleast going forward I knew I would be getting closer to the lake and atleast some towns.
Worst part when leaving the lake
This was supposed to be my favorite part, punching it, and hearing it echo.
I waited until everyone was gone, because my slow ass would only hold people back, and unfortunately, I was running literally on prayers at this point.
It took me 1 minute to get up to 60 mph. This is how it went:
1st gear: let clutch out and feathering it, its like im in neutral but speed was slowly increasing, same for 2nd and 3rd, at this point i knew i was fukked.
It was a funny feeling knowing that I could not come to a stop or else I would hold the entire town behind me, so I used momentum to keep me going.
81 Miles to get home from Yale lake, on a toasted clutch.
I had put into my gps, the distance to I-5. i was like, if i can make it to i-5 I can get some help. 28 miles from yale lake to i-5. I knew I wudnt make it there, but I kept praying anyway.
Finally, i get into the town and my worst fears were true. The clutch would not bite at all, and I had to maneuver through 2 red lights with traffic.
OHOH
So then we I come to the overpass, I had to shift into second, and man, the minivan behind me i guess got tired of me going around at 10 mph forever, and i guess didnt hear that i was revving to 7k to get it to cot damn 20 mph and finally as i get up to some speed, the light to turn left to i-5 goes red and a line behind me.
going uphill, LOL
The light turns green and 1st gear im panicking, the car hits vtec, going at 5 mph, and i cross the intersection like a grandma. I knew I was even more screwed because up ahead of 60+ mph traffic and ahead of me was a uphill section, which made the slipping clutch even worse. I had a whole line behind me, and i was like i should just pull over, but no my baby kept going and by god's help I made to like 40 mph and finally up to speed. Minivan roared by me, normally i would get pissed and fly by him at 120. but whatever. cant you fukking see my hazards, cot damn asshole grandma.
panicking at uphill portions of i-5
I literally sped up to like 80 mph in between slipping simply so i could atleast be like 40 by the time i made it uphill, but somehow staying behind a truck i couldn't be blamed, and man, i knew i definitely would not be able to get the car moving if i had to stop.
crossing into i-5, clutch is dead, no bite whatsoever, might as well be in neutral.
Right as I cross into oregon, the traffic slows down to 30 mph, and i was in the far right lane and truck was slow as shit, and i knew i coulnd't change lanes because of literally no power to the wheels and people on my ass i was like f@#k. cars gonna stop in the middle of the bridge.
somehow with the mercy of god, i made it across the bridge and at the first downhill section past "welcome to oregon" i jumped to the shoulder.
Sat for 15 minutes, on what to do, and finally called geico, and have the car towed home at the advice of a bro.
Screeching brakes
I turned the car off and sat outside on the divider, and all of the s2k's that saw me stopped by, except for this the guy with the red s2k, driving to eugene, with a supercharger.
I had a total of 3/4 s2ks passing by stop to ask if i needed help and i told them all that my clutch was RIP, and I already had a flatbed on the way. They asked if it was ok for them to leave, and I thanked them for checking on me, and sent them on their way.
Finally, had a tow truck tow me home, and it was all covered by my roadside assistance.
Now im looking at a bill of almost 600, because I just know my flywheel is glazed to hell at this point.
Thanks to all who stopped, I really appreciate you checking up on me. Makes me feel good to be part of this commmunity. I guess i'll have to be extra aggressive next time to make up for getting left behind. so pissed off, but thanks to the man in the sky, for the s2k. only this car can drive 60+ miles on a clutch that now refuses to move the car.
Thanks to aaron, matt, brandon, and the 3rd drive lead, white guy (with the kid) who stopped to check.
