Default Windshield and Code Reader

I'm looking for a little help from the group. Jody and I took the lady out on Sunday for a little drive, and two wonderful things happened (read very sarcastic). The Lady took a rock to the windshield and during a spirited pass up through the gears, her 'maintenance reqd' light came on.
As you might guess, I went out to go for a little spin this morning and the crack is LARGER UGH!!! And I still have the light.
My plea goes out to you all (maybe ya'll?). Is there a reputable windshield shop in the metro area? AND does anyone have a code reader and reference list I might arrange to borrow for two seconds?
Thanks for your help.
Ken

Light is telling you it's time to change the oil. (maybe not, just it's been like 4000 miles since it was last turned off) either way. WILL NOT harm/ do anything. just letting you know it may be time for some oil.

to turn it off.
1) key in ignition.
2) hold trip select button
3) turn key two clicks while still holding button
4) keep holding button for like 10 seconds and it should go out.

I did it all the time when I worked at Honda, but it's been a few months since i've done one, let me know it it doesn't work.

sorry to hear about your window check to see what your insurance will cover.

Brian had his replaced and said our windshields are cheap to have replaced. It may be cheaper to replace the windshield yourself.

If the Maint light is what is on - it normally flashes before it is solid - the above directions will turn it off. But if it is the small engine shapped light, it is the CEL and will need a code reader. If it is the CEL, let me know and I will meet up with you to check / reset it.

Have you gotten gas recently? If so your gas cap may not have gotten screwed on correctly - don't feel bad, it has happened to several of us.

Maint Req is just the oil minder

Check Engine is different

As for the crack, I dont have any specific recommendations for the metro area, but you should be able to call your insurance and get recommended places.

I have had two chips filled and both times didnt cost me a dime. I had a guy who is a customer at our shop that I asked to use and they had him in their database so they approved it. The guy told me that if the crack is less than 6" long (about the size of a dollar) it can be repaired. Any larger and it will probably need to be replaced.

I was just looking for that sequence to reset the maintenance light. That happen to me and I called Honda. It's no big deal. It will come on after every 7500 miles. It's just a reminder. If the check engine light comes on, then you'll need to have it looked at.

6 it only takes about 60 seconds to do - including opening the door and getting in the car. They always forget to reset mine for some reason.
