Default Has This Ever Happened to You?

So today I'm headed to work cruising down Old Winter Garden Rd, not really paying attention to the fact that there's a white van traveling in front of me pulling a long trailer. Not paying attention, that is, until a piece of 2 x 4 about a foot long comes flying out of his trailer, hits my hood, bounces onto my windshield, and finally bounces again off my top before finally landing somewhere on the street. I just knew it did some damage by the force with which it hit, and sure enough there's a big ding in my hood now. Thank goodness it didn't crack my windshield or tear my top.

So it just so happens that we had to stop at a light immediately after this and I get out and go talk to the guy to let him know what happened. He gave me a business card and I called and placed a claim with his insurance company, Progressive. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow afternoon to let me know what they're going to do.

Has this happened to any of you guys, and if so, have you had good luck with the other person's insurance paying for it? I cannot afford another $500 deductible after the incident with my seats a few months ago, but I also don't want to drive my S around with a gash in the hood.

Why can't people learn to put some kind of cover on a trailer when they're hauling stuff?

Ya, except mine was a sheet of plywood that flew off this guys truck, went straight up in the air, then ce down like a knife into the roof of my old Tacoma truck.... The guys insurance paid out nicely, and fixed it up.

You're lucky your didn't get seriously injured or worse. I'm sorry to hear you went through this, but count your blessings. Look at it this way. . .he had insurance. If his company processes the claim, you don't need to worry about the deductable. I have had two serious incidents, both of them involving my wife's Pilot while she was driving. In neither case was she at fault. Both times the matters were resolved to my satisfaction after I dealt directly with the other driver's insurance company. The fact that I am a lawyer may have helped, but it sounds like you have things covered. Good luck.

^^ I had a claim handled by progressive, they were pretty good. Loaner car, no out of pocket expenses and a lifetime guarantee on the work..
