Exclamation Thinking of moving to Orlando/Cocoa Beach

Hey everyone! My name is Jess.. I am currently living in Huntsville, AL and I am tired of it... I'm 22, have no real ties with this place other than most of my family living around here. I have been thinking a lot lately about packing up and moving to the Orlando/Cocoa beach area for work and to finish my degree at UCF. It has actually been my dream to be able to do this... I can not stand the University of Alabama in Huntsville and there aren't many other choices in college's around here. I know that there are a lot of job opportunities in Huntsville, in technology and engineering, but it seems that Cocoa beach is a very similar place. I work full time here doing CAD and was would like to see if any of you have suggestions for me for a job or a good place to live. It would be nice to be able to visit there sometime and check out the campus and mabye go in for a couple of job interviews... and hopefully be able to go to a local meet that ya'll have. I have been to Orlando a couple of times, and I love it there! I have a few friends that live around that area... one has a white S13 with a SR swap and silvia conversion, he used to have a red s2000 with a Veilside front bumper. He works at Kennedy Space Center and sells Nistune on the side and always talks about a shop called Black Ops performance. And Mark (MugenRioS2k) is a good friend of mine that moved here and used to live in Cocoa Beach... I just wanted to introduce myself and see what everyones thoughts were on this! Mabye I will have a chance to get to know some of you if I do decide to move so I won't be so lost when I get there

Hey Jess! Come on down!
If you want big city life (for Florida anyway) choose Orlando.
If you love the beach and don't mind small town life, choose Cocoa Beach.
They are within an hour of each other so you can easily travel between the two...
I'm sure you will love either!!

I have been checking out the map of that area and it looks like I'll be best off on the East side of Orlando. The only issue is the fact that I have just enough money saved up to move my stuff and live for a couple of months, so its going to be hard to find a place... esp one with a garage But it will be an adventure I guess!

s2kdan05ems - We have a Lockheed here in Huntsville... I wonder if they would consider hiring me here until I could transfer there as a student? if you hear of any job openings or know of someone on the inside that could hook me up, lmk! that would be great to already have a little job security before just up and moving to an unfamilliar place haha

haha yeah thats what I hear... I'm talking with one of my high school friends now who just moved Lakeland, but is wanting to move closer to Orlando for a bartending job. The housing market looks pretty good now, but it will be a couple of months or mabye next summer before I am able to move down... What is a good neighborhood/area on the East side of Orlando that I should check out? Thanks everyone for the help so far! this is really exciting for me to be able to have a chance to get out of Huntsville... cause I know if I don't do it, I will regret it for the rest of my life

That response proves why I have never heard of them before I worked here in Huntsville at Static-X Motorsports for a little over 3 years... (did not condone or affiliate owners actions) haha was just the fab/mechanic

rofl, please don't associate with this person. He's been in the Brevard Car Scene for awhile scamming people of money with almost every failed car shop that he has tried to open.

but yeah, I work here at Space Coast Honda in Cocoa, so if you head down here let me know, hook you up with oil change and what not

DjDorifto: Thanks man! I'll definatly be up there picking up some parts...

how is the Melbourne area? There is a company here in Huntsville called DRS Technologies that is based out of Melbourne... My neighbor works PR there and is going to try to hook me up with a job so that I could get transferred... and got some advice about UCF, I was told the nickname is now " U Cant Finish" because there are so many students , so now its looking more like FIT would be a better choice. I have been thinking a lot about all of this lately
