Cold Day Starting
Am I the only one driving his S2000 this winter in Ottawa? Haven't seen another one on the road for months, despite some conversations about getting snow tires last fall. Well, the cold weather is proving a challenge in starting. This morning, the engine barely turned over, and luckily caught. More days like this and I'm not sure if it will. Of course, I'm running a battery that is almost 4 years old, but I have the feeling that the S2000 battery is designed with light weight in mind, not cold weather starting.

Yup the CCA (cold cranking amps) of the S2000 battery isn't very high (I don't think). It's a pretty small battery.
That said my Mazda3 cranked really slowly this morning as well and it's brand new... it was COLD!

Zeiss,
I would say your CCA's on a 4 year old battery are pretty low. Hopefully your car starts as it is supposed to be colder then next few days!
My new Camry doesn't like the cold mornings too as I notice the colder it gets the longer the grunt it does first start in the morning.

Well, so far, so good. It hasn't let me down yet, but turns over very, very slowly. At least it usually catches on the first few cranks of the engine, but today and once before, I had to give it two tries before it started. Keep your fingers crossed that it lasts through this cold spell. Definitely plan to get a new battery before next winter!
