Default Light weight battery?

My battery died after only a short while with the doors open, so I'm thinking it might be toast soon, too many long cold winters in storage.

I'd hate to spin out at the track or auto-x and not be able to restart the damn thing, but don't want to replace with OEM if there is a lighter solution for close to the same money.

Any ideas?

Pricey, but light weight.

My battery is getting the same way. Then again, its not like I'm storing it properly. Secretly hoping it would fail so I have an excuse to replace it.

My spreadsheet shows:
- stock battery = 28 lbs
- Spoon battery = 13.5 lbs
- Hawker (i.e. Odyssey PC680) battery = 14.5 lbs (this is a motorcycle battery)
- add T1R = 13.5 lbs

All the JDM batteries are in the $200 range, which are probably rebadged motorcycle batteries anyways. Just getting a local brand motorcycle battery would be half the price.

The issue is modifying the battery tie down to hold the smaller battery properly. No limits could probably fab up a nice billet tie down.

Also, don't plan on pumping out the tunes either.

Wing, I understand you are trying to cut down on weight in any possible way but I don't think that going with a smaller batter is the answer. As Fongu mentioned, don't plan on running much else in peripherals if you want one of those light weight battery's. I ended up getting a Motomaster eliminator last year for $80 or $85 or something like that. To save 10 pounds I think it's foolish to run a a smaller battery. If you are so concerned about weight why not chop everything out and make it a true race car and start carbon fibreing everything?

Hey Steve, my Dad can fab me things out of aluminum He made me my rollbar clamp, but is making new ones for fun out of aluminium, they are awesome and light!

Apparently that Odyssey is pretty good, I'll think about it and see how the battery performs next time I start it now that it is not on the trickle charger.
