Opinions?
Hi Folks,
I'm going to be buying some rear tires from talontire.com and was wondering where you guys get your tires mounted locally in Ottawa? I'm looking for a shop that will take care in mounting the tires and not damage the rims. Any suggestions? If I recall through some searches I did, some of you have recommended Frisby Tire on Innes. Is this right?
Also, I know this has been beaten to death, but I can get the RE050a PP for cheaper than the RE050's. Is it advisable to mix the pole position's with the OEM fronts? I suspect by the time my rears wear out, it will be time to get new rubber all around at which time I will get matching fronts and rears.
So, what do you think... get RE050a PP with stock fronts and replace all 4 when the rears wear out, or just get stock rears now and "upgrade" later?

If you're in the west end, I've gotten them changed at Parker Auto Care. They were pretty good about not scratching rims. Also if you're an MCO member there was a small discount too (not sure if he's still doing it this year).

From what I can tell from the spec sheet, there is really no difference between either of the RE050's. It looks like one is an OEM part number, and the other a retail sale part number. Even if there are some minor differences, they will be close enough that it won't matter to 99.9% of people. It's not like you're putting all seasons on the rear and summer tires on the front. And even if you did, it wouldn't matter as long as you never get close to sliding the tires.
Your replacement plane sounds fine. For normal street driving you typically get the fronts lasting twice as long as the rears.
